In December 2024, Urban League of the Upstate announced a $500,000 gift from the Greenville Health Authority for the McClaren Institute for Health & Quality of Life. The investment supported efforts to connect underserved communities with care, education, and practical support.

Connecting Care and Community

The announcement identified preventive health, screenings, mobile outreach, primary-care navigation, and community education among the areas the funding would support. Partnerships were central to that approach, extending the work beyond a single building or neighborhood.

An Investment in Health Equity

The Institute’s purpose includes addressing the conditions that shape health: access to services, economic stability, information, and trusted relationships. GHA’s gift represented support for that broader vision, alongside the immediate work of helping people find useful health resources.
