In its November 2024 update, Urban League of the Upstate described a connected approach to health and quality of life for Black and underserved communities. The work brought together neighborhood outreach, health education, youth development, and mental health advocacy.
Meeting People Where They Are
ULUS reported collaborating with healthcare providers and community partners on pop-up clinics, preventive screenings, and vaccine education. These efforts addressed practical barriers to care while building understanding and trust.
Health Connects with Opportunity
The same update connected health priorities with the McClaren AHEC Scholars initiative and educational support for students. It also highlighted mental health awareness and advocacy led by Dr. Asa Briggs. Together, those areas reflected a wider view of wellbeing: people need information, relationships, learning opportunities, and access to support.
