Happy Wednesday! We’re back to feature two more of our fave women. This week we decided to focus on Hollywood. Yara Shahidi and Marsai Martin are two young women who are on our radar. They are making waves in Hollywood and they’re only teenagers!

Yara Shahidi

You may be familiar with Yara if you’ve watched an episode of Black-ish or her spin-off hit, Grown-ish. But why should you be keeping an eye on her?

This Harvard-bound teen is well-known for her activism. She founded Eighteen x 18 with NowThis News, which is “a creative platform to engage our generation to speak our truth, get active and vote! Designed to uplift our generation of voters to take action into our own hands and discover the issues that impact us through our own stories and experiences.”

Barbie has chosen Yara, along with 19 others as a role model to represent and honor diversity. Yara also has her own Barbie as a part of their “Sheroes” collection.

Marsai Martin

Marsai Martin also stars on the hit TV series Black-ish, along with Yara Shahidi. Marsai has been a breakout star, winning three NAACP Images Awards and a Young Artist Award for her role.

The 14-year-old is set to become the youngest executive producer in Hollywood with the film Little, in which she also stars. Marsai pitched the idea to Black-ish creator Kenya Barris when she was just 10! But she’s not finished making history. Marsai is also the youngest person to sign a first-look production deal with Universal.

This girl has it going on! I don’t know about y’all, but at 14 I was just trying to get through pre-algebra…
