Employment & Workforce Development

The Job Readiness Program is designed to ease the transition into the workplace. Our participants are often individuals who are re-entering the workforce after a period of time or new graduates entering the job market for the first time. We offer a variety of workshops including Resume Creation, Interview Skills, and Conflict Resolution.

Job Readiness Workshops that combine interview and job search skills are held weekly.

Bus passes are available for individuals who need transportation assistance to attend job interviews, career fairs or to submit onsite job applications.

Career Development and Learning Center (CDLC)

The Career Development and Learning Center offers job-training services in office management and computer technology skills. The Center operates as an open-entry-open-exit facility, with a self-paced curriculum.

Career Link

Career Link provides job seekers employment counseling, employability assessment, and assistance with job search. Job readiness workshops, resume writing, and GED classes are offered. Job seekers may be referred to the Business and Technology Center for employability training.

Project Reconnect

Project Reconnect is designed to work with 50 Greenville County youth between the ages of 17-21 who are court involved or at-risk of court involvement.   Emphasis is placed on working with each student on career research, goal-setting, planning for post-high school and making connections to the professional world. Program participants will be presented with career options, supplemental education assistance, and employment experience.

State Wide Diversity Career Fair

In partnership with The Greenville News, our annual Diversity Career Fair is designed to introduce qualified job seekers to prospective employers.  These employers are able to connect with approximately 2,000 individuals that attend the event each year. Potential employees learn about local companies and the career opportunities that each has to offer.

The fair targets the unemployed, the under-employed, and those seeking a career change.

WorkKeys Preparation

The Urban League of the Upstate offers a variety of options for individuals who plan to take the ACT WorkKeys® Assessments.  Instruction is available at the Urban League office, online, and at community-based satellite centers.

By earning a WorkKeys® Career Ready Certificate, job applicants can demonstrate work place skills in reading, applied mathematics, and locating information

Candidates for the Career Skills Now Training Program may be eligible for assistance in paying for WorkKeys® testing.  Career Skills Now is a no-cost job skills training program for qualified individuals who seek to develop careers in advanced manufacturing.
